Day 1:  Arrival in Oslo

Upon arrival, travel by airport bus into downtown Oslo. Spend your day at leisure in the Norwegian capital. We recommend Vigeland’s park, the city center with the Royal Palace and the pier, Aker Brygge, from where you can take a boat to Bygdoy and visit the Viking museum.

Day 2:  Oslo – Myrdal – Flam - Balestrand

Today, you will leave Oslo and take the train to Myrdal and then the famous Flamsbana to Flam. Flamsbana is a spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. It is one of the steepest train lines in the world on normal tracks, where almost 80% of the journey has a gradient of 5.5%. You will then take the boat to Balestrand and discover Sognefjord, the longest open fjord in the world. Upon your arrival, check in and enjoy the surroundings before dinner.

Day 3:  Balestrand

After breakfast, you will have your day at leisure in one of the cutest villages in the fjord– calm and serene, Balestrand will charm you. Go for a walk or visit the Glacier (excursion not included – can be booked in addition) and relax in your hotel which has so many stories to tell. You can also stop by The Cider House for a sample of local specialty. Dinner buffet included this evening!

Day 4:  Balestrand - Bergen

After breakfast, you will depart by boat to Bergen, the capital of the fjords. You will spend the day at leisure. What has made Bergen known around the world is its charm and atmosphere. It really must be experienced! Wander along the Fish Market and mingle with the people as they go about their daily life. Stroll leisurely to the Aquarium to see the fish, the penguins, and the seals. Walk the length of Bryggen to the old fortress of Bergenhus. Get to the top of Mount Floyen (town center funicular), or Ulriken, or any of the seven mountains that ring the city.

Day 5:  Bergen - Lofthus

After breakfast you will leave for Lofthus, first by bus to Norheimsund and then by boat to Lofthus. Depending on the timetable, you might spend your afternoon in Norheimsund, situated in the very heart of Hardanger. Try your hand at rope making and boat building at the internationally reputed Hardanger Fartoyvernsenter (entrance not included) or wander along the main street where you will find charming shops. In the afternoon, take a boat to Lofthus where dinner and a room with a fjord view await you.

Day 6:  Lofthus

After breakfast, you have your entire day at leisure. We recommend you visit the church from which you have a beautiful view of the Folgefonna glacier, have a look at Edvard Grieg's Composer Cabin in the hotel garden, or wander in the fruit tree fields. Fruit blossom in Hardanger is an experience people never forget! Ullensvang is an area known for fruit farming, and in the springtime thousands of fruit trees are breathtakingly while during blossom.

Day 7:  Lofthus - Rosendal

Today you will travel by bus to Rosendal via Odda. The village is known for the Barony Rosendal, a historic estate and manor house located in the village. If you walk in the village you will also see the Kvinnherad Church, a white stone church that was built during the middle to late 13th century.

Accommodation at Rosendal Fjord Hotel or similar. 

Day 8:  Rosendal - Bergen

After breakfast it's time to return to Bergen by boat where you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9:  Departure from Bergen

Transfer to airport for your flight home.
