From Helsinki you go north to Kemi, located in the heart of Finland. Enjoy our nights at the Kemi's Seaside Villas including an adventure on a Snowmobile before heading to Rovaniemi, the arctic city in the heart of Lapland and suspected home of Santa Claus. Here you will spend two nights in the miraculous Arctic Tree House hotel. Options to add additional excursions to your trip in both Kemi and Rovaniemi.

Day 1: Arrival in Helsinki

Arrival at airport Helsinki and transfer to your downtown Helsinki hotel.  After checking in at the hotel, head over to pick up your 24-hour Helsinki city card which will let you enjoy the rest of your day at leisure exploring the sights. Our suggested top ten are the Temppeliaukio Church (The Rock Church), Helsinki Cathedral, Esplanade Park, The Sibelius monument, Havis Amanda Fountain, Uspensky Orthodox Cathedral, Finlandia Hall, Presidential Palace (Presidentinlinna), Kiasma Art Museum and Suomenlinna Maritime Sea Fortress (outside city center).

Day 2: Exploring Helsinki - Train to Lapland

After breakfast enjoy your remaining hours to explore the delightful capital of Helsinki – you have enough time to explore on your own today. In the evening you will take an overnight train to Kemi. Meals are available for purchase on board the train.

Day 3:   Arrive Kemi 

This morning, arrive at the Kemi train station where you will catch a transfer to the Seaside Glass Villas. These 21m 2 Seaside Glass Villas with small kitchen and bathroom are an excellent choice for ones who want to enjoy the arctic freedom in its best. Beautiful and quiet place located next to the SnowCastle ́s new location, just a couple of minutes away from the Kemi city center. Cozy place to snuggle up and enjoy the nature's incredible light show – the Northern Lights. You can experience the Sea, Snow and Ice and get the direct access to the frozen sea with possibilities of various winter.

After checking in, walk over to the SnowCastle. Take a guided tour around the resort resort introducing you to the new all-year-round SnowCastle. The tour will lead you to the world of professional ice and snow building. You will hear all about the technics and facts about the SnowCastle and how everything is created.

Later this afternoon, take a guided snowmobile tour of the area. To cap off your evening, enjoy dinner at the IceRestaurant365 where everything is built out of snow & ice and the temperature stays at a chilly -5° all-year-round. Enjoying a hearty 3-course dinner by the ice tables is an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 4: Kemi

Relax and enjoy the day in Kemi. Many tours are available but do not run daily. Based on your start date in Helsinki we can look to see what optional tours we could add to your trip to enhance your experience.

Optional tour possibilities:  
A 4-hour excursion on board the Sampo Ice breaker-
On board the Icebreaker you will have a guided tour from the Captain’s bridge all the way down to the engine rooms. A delicious hot lunch (soup) is served in the ship ́s restaurant. After that, the ship will make a one hour stop to enable you to take a swim in the sea, comfortably dressed in a warm survival suit. At the end of this unique cruise experience, the ship ́s captain presents each participant with a certificate. If you are still feeling adventurous, we recommend a dinner in the snow castle (not included).

Husky Safari 3 hrs- Experience the complete silence of the Arctic nature around you. Ride a husky sledge through the untouched wintery woods. During the break listen to the musher’s stories of the nature in the region, of huskies, their life and training. The car transfer to the Husky Farm goes through the beautiful countryside and you will get a glimpse of the local life and landscapes. 2 people will share a sled, changing the driver halfway. Coffee is served during the safari.  

Fatbike Adventure 3 hrs-
Bike on the frozen sea ice and in the alluring archipelago. Fatbikes are equipped with wide tires that provide a smooth and well-balanced ride in snowy conditions. This enjoyable and relaxing bike trip takes you to the frozen sea and nature on the Gulf of Bothnia. While grilling sausages and enjoying hot beverages by the campfire, you’ll hear stories of the local nature and life in Lapland.

Ice Fishing by Snowmobile 2.5 hrs - Snowmobile safari to the icy field of the Gulf of Bothnia. Try your luck at traditional ice fishing and with any luck, learn how to prepare your catch on an open fire. Savor an outdoor snack topped off with a refreshing cup of coffee served around a campfire.

Olokolo Luxury Ride 1.5 hrs- Hop into the glass-roofed, warm Olokolo sleigh, pulled by a snowmobile. Experience the Arctic Sea scattered with charming islands, offering a great opportunity to spot local wildlife, such as sea eagles or elks. Nestled in the warm comfort of the Olokolo, you can observe the ever-changing shades of the sky above, surrounded by the beauty of the nature outside while enjoying some warm drinks and refreshments.

Day 5: Kemi – Rovaniemi

After breakfast transfer to the Kemi train station and travel to Rovaniemi. Upon arrival to the Rovaniemi train station, transfer to the Arctic Treehouse hotel, your accommodation for the coming two nights. The concept of Arctic Tree House Hotel has its roots in fragile arctic nature, the fairytale-like world of Santa Park, and northern culture and heritage. The hotel consists of individual accommodation units covered by wooden shingles and standing on tall poles between the trees. Appearing to wander down the hill and curiously peeking at the landscape and sky, they blend into their environment effortlessly. All the buildings are made of Finnish wood, a traditional, sustainable and renewable material. The green roof helps in managing urban runoff and brings the building’s footprint’s worth of vegetation back to the construction site. The wood on the interior surfaces creates a comfortable environment, healthy indoor air and pleasant acoustics. After check-in you can use the rest of the day explore Rovaniemi and experience its nature. 

Optional tour possibilities:
Husky Safari and visit to Reindeer Farm 5hrs – Depart this morning out of the city. Enjoy a scenic drive through the deep North. The potential to see a selection of wildlife on this journey is quite high. Elk, foxes, hares and reindeer are some of the animals that regularly make an appearance on this road. Upon arrival, you will get ready to go with the aid of the husky guide, set off into the wilderness and enjoy some warm drinks and stories with the guide. Once you are done, head to the reindeer farm which will include warm drinks and snacks in the company of the reindeer herder and his reindeer. This should last around 45mins to an hour. After that, transfer back to your hotel.

Korouoma Canyon and Frozen Waterfall Guided Hike – 6 hrs - Korouoma provides a variety of opportunities for hiking nature observation, admiring the views, and discovering how nature was used throughout history. The area is peppered with numerous ponds lakes and small rivers. In winter you can go snowshoeing in the canyon. Korouoma is also the best destination in Finland for ice climbing enthusiasts. 

*Please note that the drive to Korouoma Canyon from Rovaniemi is around 1.5 hrs. 

Ice Fishing & Snow Shoeing 4-5 hrs - Ice fishing is a very popular winter past time here in Lapland, locals are often seen out on the frozen lakes or rivers trying to catch one of the millions of fish that populate these bodies of water. Snowshoe through the deep snowy forests to a beautiful spot to do some ice fishing in the Lapland locality. Fish that swim up through these waters are trout, grayling, bream and many more. Drill your hole, set your line and cast down the hole to see what you can catch. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of a frozen lake in an area that can be viewed as an untouched, clean and natural environment.

Day 6: Rovaniemi

After breakfast you have the full day to keep exploring the ‘capital’ of Finnish Lapland. There is allot to see and do in Rovaniemi from simply enjoying your surroundings or partaking in fun filled adventures. Optional activities can be booked today as well. If interested, please inquire.
