Day 2: Copenhagen - Millinge

We leave Copenhagen after breakfast to go to Denmark’s second largest island, Fyn. It was on this island, that Hans Christian Andersen was born. We visit his home and see where he grew up. Today at Falsled Kro in Millinge, a small village of only 500 people, there are other fairy tales being told: that of a man who turns his recipes into true Scandinavian legends. At chef Hallundbaeks table, the salmon is home smoked, the turbot comes with vegetables grown in the own garden and everything that is served is seasonal. The rooms are small lofts, with their walls of white bricks, minimal decorations and soft lighting they are very romantic. We will have dinner at Falsled Kro and stay the night.

Day 3: Millinge - Henne

Following breakfast at Falsled Kro, we head west. First stop is Mandø in the Wadden Sea, which is one of the world’s most important tidal flats - a large unique nature reserve and extremely scenic. At Mandø, we will go on an oyster safari - picking oysters directly from the sea-bottom and sampling them accompanied by champagne. The oyster are delicious, and not to mention an aphrodisiac. After leaving Mandø we will follow the coast to Henne Kirkeby Kro - a newly renovated Danish inn. The inn is tucked away near the West Coast of Jutland and is far off the beaten path. The brilliant chef Paul Cunningham gives an ultra modern and innovative take on local ingredients harvested mainly from their own on-site garden. It was named the best restaurant in Denmark in 2011 and it is truly worth the trip. We will eat the very ambitious gourmet menu and sleep in the luxury rooms.

After breakfast the trip continues toward the second largest city in Denmark, Aarhus. On the way we have lunch at a very charming traditional Danish inn located in the middle of the woods. The afternoon will start with a tour of the historic city center of the city where we among many other things, will visit the local art museum in order to see the spectacular "Your Rainbow Panorama" by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasen. After the visit to the museum the rest of the afternoon is available for a stroll in the adorable city, where the hotel is located right in the center. In the evening we will dine at one of the best restaurants in Denmark, Frederikshøj Kro, where local legend chef Wassim Hallal will serve an innovative menu with a strong focus on local ingredients.

Day 5: Aarhus – Skagen

After breakfast we will visit The Old Town in Aarhus, which is a very popular open-air town museum consisting of 75 historical buildings collected from 20 townships in all parts of the country. Not just a museum but a virtual functioning town, there are several groceries, diners and workshops spread throughout the town with museum staff working in the roles of town figures i.e. merchant, blacksmith etc. adding to the illusion of visiting a real town. There will be plenty of time to explore every corner of this amazing place and have lunch in one of the small restaurants. After lunch we will proceed directly to Skagen – the most northern town in Denmark, and the most posh vacation spot in Denmark. We will stay at Ruths Hotel, the hotel is well known for its excellent food and friendly service. We will dine at the hotel.

In the afternoon, we will go to Grenen, which is the most northern point in Denmark, and at the same time the place where the two seas - the Skagerak and the Kattegat - meet. After the visit we will dine at restaurant De 2 Have (the two seas). The restaurant offers an impressive view of the area and the food, which is based on locally produced goods, is superb.

Day 7: Skagen - Sjaelland

After breakfast we will leave Skagen and go to Ebeltoft. Ebeltof is one of the most romantic small towns in Denmark, due to the natural beauty of the area, its old town center with cobble-stoned streets and centuries-old half-timbered houses. Also, Ebeltoft is home to one of the world's first glass museums and to the longest wooden warship in the world. We will have lunch in a cozy Danish inn, before exploring the city. In the afternoon we will continue to the northern part of Sjaelland, where we will stay at Dragsholm Castle. Dragsholm Castle has a gourmet restaurant, an eatery and luxury hotel facilities. Dragsholm Castle is surrounded by the beautiful and hilly, glacial landscape in Odsherred at the edge of Lammefjorden. In the castle’s kitchens the staff uses the local produce with ambition and innovation. In close collaboration with competent farmers the raw materials are selected for the menus of the month. This evening we will dine in the more relaxed eatery that serves simple, but very high quality, Danish country dishes.
